Steve_Dunn_photo.png Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the AAH Pharmaceuticals website and to the 2006 Athens convention information section.

Firstly I would like to thank Actavis for sponsoring the photographer throughout the event, allowing us to reflect on some of the memories from our week in Athens.

Athens was chosen as an appropriate venue for our conference given that not only was it the cradle of modern civilisation but it was the cradle of pharmacy, the birthplace of politics and of philosophy. Hence the title of the convention was; Philosophy, Politics and Pharmacy for it is obvious that politics and Government's current philosophy for healthcare have major impacts on pharmacy, pharmacists, wholesalers and manufacturers.

During the two days of business sessions we explored - with the assistance of some very able and knowledgeable speakers - the impact of Government policy on pharmacy, the likely future policy of Government and the underlying philosophies which will drive the way in which we all work and earn our living whilst at the same time contributing to the welfare of patients.

A reoccurring theme throughout the business sessions was the continuous pace of change in the pharmacy world and the time constraints pharmacists' faced in order to successfully meet and implement elements of the new contract.

At AAH we are continuously striving to support pharmacy and navigate the way through this period of change through initiatives such as our Link Evolution system and Vantage health watch offerings. We have developed these programmes so that you can concentrate on exploiting the business opportunities currently being presented to you and I urge you to pick up the phone and speak to your AAH representative if you have any questions or seek any guidance.

I hope you found the convention as through provoking as I did and encourage you all - manufacturers and pharmacists - to view the challenges that pharmacy faces as an opportunity for us all.
