AAH Pharmaceuticals has enhanced the endorsing and reimbursement toolkit within its latest version of LINKEvolution. This has been done to guide pharmacists and pharmacy staff through the different and often complex Drug Tariff endorsing rules which exist in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
This new functionality automates the complicated remuneration and endorsing process, resulting in less time spent manually endorsing prescriptions and training pharmacy staff.
Accuracy, efficiency and consistency will be increased while pharmacists can be assured that they get paid for what has been dispensed each month.
Leon Rudd, director of marketing for AAH, said: “While pharmacists are spending more time on screening services, carrying out MURs and general community healthcare, it is important to remember that they still need to earn a living through dispensing.
“The new endorsing toolkit has been designed to save the pharmacist time, time that can easily be lost in the day to day running of the modern pharmacy and it ensures that the correct remuneration is due.”
The new toolkits provide many benefits to the customer that are not currently available in the LINK systems. Messages on endorsing advice guides the customer through the various processes, while the system will calculate and display the professional fees and patient charges for a single prescription form. This ensures that the pharmacists’ customers are charged correctly and the correct fees are claimed.
The need to memorise complex rules is reduced as the system will also determine the quantity to be supplied when calendar pack, special container or limited stability rules apply.
Leon Rudd added: “These benefits should prove crucial to the way in which our customers operate. All four nations - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - will be supported.
“In addition, end of month reports help the pharmacist to manage accounts more efficiently while all messages will be generated in the correct format for ETP – which will be essential for the future of prescriptions between GPs, pharmacies and pricing authorities.”
