AAH has launched a new version of its ETP-enabled LINKEvolution IT system, which adds the functionality for Medicines Use Reviews (MURs) and – for Scottish pharmacists – the Electronic Minor Ailments System (e-MAS).
The new LINKEvolution 9 software has already been successfully implemented at a number of pharmacies in England and Scotland, and is now available to all AAH’s LINK users.
AAH remains the only company whose ETP software has achieved approval for both general release to any pharmacy and connection to the NHS Spine. The new version of LINK, like previous versions, has been approved by the NHS Connecting for Health Compliance team.
LINK uses an intuitive software ‘wizard’ to help the pharmacist record MUR information in an electronic step by step version of the standard form. This is integrated with existing data in the patient’s medical record, and provides the comprehensive audit trail demanded by the new contract.
The new software also allows direct access to FDBE’s Multilex database, so that drugs added to the patient’s medical record during the MUR process can be checked against other medication that the patient is using.
“The ability to record MURs electronically will free up pharmacists to focus on their patient rather than the recording process,” said AAH group managing director Steve Dunn.
“It will also provide data that can be shared electronically with other healthcare practitioners when everyone is connected to the secure NHS network. IT will play a key role in integrating pharmacists more closely with other health professionals and achieving ‘joined up’ healthcare services.
“We are committed to making our pharmacy IT systems simple and intuitive, so pharmacists can spend their time talking to their patients and not worrying about how to use their computer system!”
