New MUR forms save pharmacists valuable time

04 February 2008

AAH Pharmaceuticals has announced the completion of its new MUR forms, which will promote communication between pharmacists and GPs thereby improving the MUR process as a whole.

Pharmacists and GPs alike can expect to experience substantial time savings as form length has been halved due to extensive streamlining and evaluation of the information required.

All data required by a patient’s GP can now be found on the first of a shortened two page document following extensive feedback from pharmacists, GPs, PCTs, LPCs and other stakeholders.

AAH has taken this feedback to create its own version of the PSNC form. This includes a four-ply carbon copy form, of which, the final page has the patient details removed so it can be used for auditing purposes and eradicates the need to photocopy extra pages.

These amendments have been made to make it easier for customers to hit the 400 MUR target by reducing the paperwork along with speeding up and simplifying the process. This will allow customers to spend more time with patients where it matters most: in the consultation room.

Ajit Malhi, head of marketing services for AAH Pharmaceuticals said: “MURs now play a vital role in the life of a pharmacist and AAH is fully aware of this. It is crucial that our customers are given every opportunity to hit the NHS targets both for financial reasons and to strengthen their case for more national commissioned services to be released.

“It is for this reason that we have produced these new forms to make the process far more efficient and effective.”

The MUR wizard within LINK is currently being developed to support the version 2 MUR forms. As the MUR wizard is part of LINKEvolution, an ETP enabled system, AAH needs to gain full Connecting for Health accreditation before it can fully roll out this program release. Therefore the MUR wizard will be updated in the next release of LINK.

To obtain further information and pricing on the new MUR forms, pharmacists can call AAH on 02476 432000.
