The AAH Story

Today AAH is a leading distributor of pharmaceutical and healthcare products serving pharmacies, hospitals and doctors nationwide. We believe that our customers benefit from services specially designed to save time and money.

In 1892 AAH was founded in South Wales, as a solid fuels company. In 1923 the company was floated on the stock market, and in 1976 AAH expanded and moved into pharmaceuticals by taking over a large number of businesses including Hills Pharmaceuticals. In 1985 we acquired pharmaceutical wholesaler Vestric Limited from Glaxo and continued to grow, leading to the formation of AAH Pharmaceuticals Limited. Since 1995, AAH has been part of GEHE AG.

2003 we celebrated our centenary as a public company. In the same year, at our annual general meeting on 24 April, our shareholders approved the change of name from GEHE to Celesio. In February 2014, McKesson Corporation, became the majority shareholder in Celesio with more than 75%. Fast forward to 2018, Celesio UK is now officially McKesson UK, part of McKesson Europe. The McKesson Corporation is an internationally-renowned healthcare company with 74,000 colleagues operating in 16 countries worldwide.

Reflecting the mission of the entire AAH business to focus on healthcare products and services, we recognised a new meaning for the letters AAH; All About Health.
